Every wedding tells a story and at the heart of so many of those stories is a woman or many women whose love, strength, creativity and resilience shape the day in ways both big and beautifully subtle.
This International Women’s Day, we’re taking a moment to celebrate women not just as brides, but as partners, planners, dreamers, leaders and the quiet forces behind unforgettable moments.
More Than a Wedding Day
Weddings are milestones, but they’re also reflections of shared values. International Women’s Day is about honouring equality, empowerment and choice and values that align closely with what a wedding represents - two people choosing each other, choosing partnership and choosing a future built on respect.
The Old Mill are proud to be a venue where women feel empowered to design a day that reflects their vision, couples can celebrate love in all its forms, traditions can be embraced, reimagined or left behind altogether. There is no single way to be a bride, a partner or a woman and we love hosting weddings that reflect that truth.
We believe empowering women means honouring their vision in every detail of the wedding day, celebrating their unique ideas, embracing creativity in all its forms, and knowing that flexibility is everything when it comes to bringing those dreams to life.
Honouring the Women Behind the Scenes
A wedding doesn’t come together without incredible women working behind the scenes: planners, coordinators, florists, stylists, caterers, photographers, bar teams and coordinators who pour their talent into every detail.
We are grateful to collaborate with so many women-led and female-powered businesses who help transform our venue into a place where memories are made. Their creativity, professionalism and care elevate every celebration held here.
We are constantly inspired by the incredible women in our industry who pour their hearts into every wedding like The Old Mill's most loved suppliers; Ruby Lou Beauty, a 2x national winner at The Wedding Industry Awards, the ever-talented wedding photographer Jennie Coulbourne, Viki’s Fabulous Cakes creating showstopping designs, the amazing bridal beauty artist Michelle, the fabulous and successful make-up artist Rachel Capocchi, and our beloved décor company The Wed Shed, owned by Evie Arlott, who is also a Wedding Industry Awards winner and has grown massively as a business, doing everything in her power to create truly beautiful weddings.

A Space for Every Kind of Love
International Women’s Day is also a reminder that love should be inclusive, safe and celebrated openly. As a wedding venue, we are committed to being a welcoming space for all couples where individuality is respected and every story is honoured.
Whether it’s a grand celebration or an intimate gathering, at The Old Mill we believe every couple deserves a setting that supports their love and their voice.
Today, We Celebrate Women - Always
On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate the women saying “I do”; the women standing proudly beside them; the women building lives, families, businesses, and futures; and the women who make moments like these possible.
Love is powerful. Women are powerful. And when the two come together, it's beautiful to see!
From all of us here at The Old Mill, Happy International Women’s Day!
